UTC reserve guard Dontay Hampton gets medical attention at ASU

UTC reserve guard Dontay Hampton received emergency medical attention in the locker room following UTC's 79-70 loss Wednesday night at Appalachian State.

Coach John Shulman said Hampton struggled to breathe and had some chest pain after playing 29 minutes -- including the final 16 -- at an altitude of 3,333 feet while suffering from congestion.

Shulman said, "At one point, they're like, 'If you're not a doctor, get out.'"

Hampton passed medical tests and was cleared to travel home with the Mocs after first being told he would need to stay the night for observation. He missed Thursday's practice while undergoing tests in Chattanooga.

"We made sure that we took care of him," Shulman said. "He was fine coming back. We weren't going to let him practice until our doctors here clear him."
