Hamilton County ranks third in the state in the number of discrimination claims filed, according to a Tennessee Human Rights Commission official.

"We have what I call a consistently large load," said Beverly Watts, executive director of the commission.

But she said it's because people know where they need to go to file a complaint.

Watts was in Chattanooga as part of the commission's outreach meetings. It was the first time since the forums were started two years ago.

About 50 representatives from government agencies, nonprofits and churches attended the meetings at the Second Missionary Baptist Church.
