United Way's Volunteer Center is accepting nominations until Monday for the annual Volunteer of the Year Awards.

All volunteers across the region and from any nonprofit organization are eligible for nomination. The award will be presented April 17 at the Volunteer United Banquet.

To nominate a volunteer, fill out the application form online at www.LiveUnitedChattanooga.org/nomination.

One volunteer will be recognized in each of several categories: community, education, environment, health, disaster services individual, disaster services group, national service volunteers (such as AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, VISTA, RSVP, etc.) and youth (ages 18 and younger).

The Volunteer Center also will recognize a local business with the Corporate Volunteer Award for its commitment to the welfare of communities. Companies may self-submit for this award.

Judges will evaluate nominees on the scope of responsibility given to a volunteer, attitude, reliability and uniqueness of service.
