Domestic assault escalates to attempted murder, police say

A woman was strangled and suffered serious head and facial injuries in a domestic violence incident on Friday night.

The victim, 40, told Chattanooga police she was beaten by Alex Vincente, 31, who has been arrested and charged with attempted homicide, police spokesman Nathan Hartwig said in a news release Saturday evening.

He said that officers responded to a domestic assault call at 1312 E 36th St. on Friday at 8:15 p.m when they found the unnamed victim. She was taken to Erlanger hospital.
