Helen Burton and Mary Clor are referencing the advent of spring in their artworks for In-Town Gallery's March exhibition. "Brushstrokes and Bracelets" opens Thursday, and a reception will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Burton's subject matter focuses on birds, butterflies and flowers. Her graphic design background influences her detailed, realistic depictions of these subjects in their natural settings. An avid birdwatcher since childhood, Burton has compiled a "life list" of 160 backyard species from which she has taken photographs to use as a reference for her paintings.

Clor has explored a wide range of jewelry arts. Her pieces for the show reflect her love of graceful curves and geometric simplicity. She has created a group of sterling- silver stack rings and earrings. Her cuff bracelets and pendants have an agate-like glass cabochon as the focal point.

"Brushstrokes and Bracelets" continues through March 31.
