Wind confirmed as EF0 tornado near Smyrna

Thursday, January 19, 2012

The National Weather Service says an EF0 tornado touched down near Smyrna, causing some property damage but no injuries or deaths.

The Tuesday tornado had relatively low wind speeds of between 80 and 85 miles per hour. That did not stop it from overturning a recreational vehicle, uprooting trees and seriously damaging the roof of a house.

Weather Service meteorologist Jim Moser in Nashville said the tornado touched down about four miles northeast of Smyrna. Its path was 1.7 miles long and 125 yards wide at its widest point.
