ABC reporter acknowledges media favoritism toward Obama

It's not often that prominent national journalists acknowledge the pro-Democrat bias in the news, but ABC senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper did so recently on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos."

"If you look at 2008, Barack Obama had everything going for him," Tapper said. "His opponent did not run a great campaign, picked a running mate that alienated some key voters, you had an economic crisis as opposed to a national security crisis. Everything going for him. You had the media, perhaps, tilting on the scales a little bit."

Unfortunately, Tapper's assessment is perhaps even more correct than he realizes. The news media were indeed "tilting on the scales" on behalf of Obama -- and still are in their often unduly flattering coverage of his administration. But they are doing that more than just "a little bit."

Groups such as the Media Research Center have documented the unskeptical coverage that the president enjoys, even on matters such as journalists' unwillingness to label him "liberal" -- which he plainly is.

ABC's Tapper merely confirmed the news media liberalism that is already obvious to so many Americans.
