The City Council has decided it will allocate $75,000 to a joint partnership between the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce.

The partnership between the two entities is for a minority business development program. The money was once allocated to go to the Tennessee Multicultural Chamber of Commerce, but the city decided not to fund it last year after a Times Free Press investigation showed discrepancies with financial reporting.

The multicultural chamber is now under investigation by the FBI and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Finance Director Daisy Madison said the council will have to formally allocate the money through an amendment to the 2011-12 fiscal year budget at a later date.
