Red Bank Regions branch robbed

A masked man brandished a handgun inside a bank in Red Bank on Thursday morning, taking an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing, said Police Chief Tim Christol.

No one was injured during the robbery, he said.

The robber entered the Regions Bank at 3401 Dayton Blvd. just after 10 a.m. and approached the counter, brandishing a gun and demanding cash.

The FBI is investigating, and Red Bank police are assisting by canvassing the area, he said.

Authorities still are reviewing surveillance cameras' footage to get a detailed description of the robber.

Pantyhose bandit suspect nabbed

A man accused of concealing his face with a pair of pantyhose and robbing at least eight local businesses was arrested Wednesday night by Chattanooga police.

Thomas Eugene Trotman, 45, faces seven counts of robbery, seven counts of theft under $500, one count of theft under $500, one count aggravated burglary, one count of theft over $1,000 and one count of vandalism.

He is accused of robbing Baskin Robbins, 4795 Highway 58; GiGi's Cupcakes, 1906 Gunbarrel Road; two Little Caesars Pizza locations, 7601 East Brainerd Road and 9271 Lee Highway; Mr. Zip, 1905 Gunbarrel Road; Electric Tan, 7550 East Brainerd Road; and Kangaraoo Express, 4900 Brainerd Road.

He also is a suspect in a burglary of a residence on Austin Drive.

Trotman has a lengthy arrest record that includes charges of theft, assault and robbery, according to local court records.

His next court date is set for Tuesday before Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge David Bales. His bond is set at $235,000.

Suspect in December shooting charged

A man accused of shooting a man in December remained in jail on a $600,000 bond Thursday night.

Darius Patterson, 31, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the Dec. 23 shooting of 31-year-old Deangelo Collins in the 1900 block of Sharp Street.

Patterson was taken into custody at 2219 E. 26th St. Court by Chattanooga police.

Collins was found with gunshot wounds to his side and upper abdomen. He told police he was standing in the area when an acquaintance walked up and opened fire.

Patterson's next court date is Feb. 2.
