HORRORS! THE first lady wants to replace French fries and pizza with an apple or broccoli in our school lunches. We simply can't allow it.

SOMEONE WHO'S been successful in business just might be the person to get this country out of debt and back on its feet.

HOW APPROPRIATE! A picture of the Republican candidates and an article on pelvic exams side by side on Monday's front page! Two things I dread!

OBAMA CALLS for a millionaire tax hike. Millionaires Alexander and Corker scream foul.

THOSE IN THE military should not be allowed to vote absentee. No voter ID! (Sarcasm intended.)

YES, POSTING the Ten Commandments is definitely our top priority in Tennessee. Forget the economy, education, our crumbling infrastructure and health care. Vote them out.

FLOYD WANTS to protect us from men wearing dresses. How about men carrying guns into public places?

JIM COPPINGER and the Hamilton County Commission have declared this School Board Appreciation Week. I guess that makes up for the money they won't release.

ERLANGER'S RECOVERY plan: Eliminate one executive bonus recipient, draw a new organizational chart with the same unsuccessful people in charge and expect a different outcome!

ONE NEWSCAST referred to the Costa Concordia tragedy as the "real life Titanic." Did the news editor think Titanic was a work of fiction?

WHAT'S WITH Tuesday's paper? Only four pages of articles in Section A. No international news except one-half page on C4. Shame!

Yep, we have somebody who thinks you can run a country like a business. Sorry, but it rarely works to downsize a nation. It certainly hasn't turned Russia around.

Since when does the first lady, the first man or anyone else in this country to change the school lunches? Oh I forgot, we have never had any persons as smart in the White House as the ones we now have. Does anyone think school kids will automatically eat broccoli and apples if that is all that is served? As a child I would not have eaten broccoli no matter how smart the President's wife is.

Livn4life: The first lady is speaking out for the change, not unilaterally imposing anything from on high. She is sending a message, not a command. Do you think that the First Lady shouldn't act to positively influence the health of children?

And yes, they have given a lot of thought about how to influence what school kids eat. So you won't eat broccoli, fair enough that's why they have other options.

All you're showing is you haven't paid attention to what she's been doing. I suggest you learn.

Were you all this upset over Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" campaign or Laura Bush's early family reading initiative? Every first lady in recent history has had an issue or cause that they support. Michelle Obama's is improving childhood health through exercise and healthy school lunches. What on earth is the problem (beyond you just not liking the current President and First Lady)?

If, heaven forbid, Callista Gingrich or Ann Romney become first lady, are you going to throw an equally ignorant tantrum over their chosen issue(s)? Or will you make an exception because you happen to like their husband's politics?

Personally, I think the "First Lady", OR the "First Gentleman" if / when a woman is elected to the High Office of Potus of the Free World, should sit down, shut up, and let the Elected One do their job. No one voted for them. "Just Say No", "It Takes a Village", "Preserve America"......who thinks up this stuff?

If the First Lady / First Gentleman is bored, then get rid of all the staff and let'em cook, clean the White House, wash clothes like the rest of America and save the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of $$$$

Sorry sage but other people want them doing something, and are quite willing to pay for it. They want a smiling face doing something in public.

Yes, lyin4life, when Queen NAncy said "Just Say No" to drugs -- that was no problem, huh? I guess because it was such an overwhelming success (tongue planted firmly in cheek). You pathethic little peons just don't know what to do with all your racist bigotry, now do you?
