East Ridge Police have determined an early Sunday morning residential fire was caused by arson.
Officers noticed smoke shortly after 1 a.m. at a two-story home at 3900 Bennett Rd., which is at the intersection of John Ross Road.
Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire, which left an estimated $10,000 in damage, said East Ridge Police Chief Eddie Phillips. He said the home was vacant and unoccupied.
Phillips said officers have begun a criminal investigation into the fire. Anyone with information is asked to call East Ridge Police at 622-1725 or the confidential tip line at 867-0016.
