Sales of Volkswagen’s Chattanooga-made Passat topped the 10,000 mark in June and hit an all-time high in the U.S., officials said today.
Frank Trivieri, vice president of sales for Volkswagen of America, said in a conference call with reporters and auto analysts that Passat sales have surpassed the 10,000 level for four consecutive months.
He said the Passat’s clean diesel model accounted for about 21 percent of its 10,252 in June sales.
Volkswagen sales overall in the U.S. rose 34.2 percent in June over the same period last year to 38,170 vehicles.
For the first six months, VW of America said total sales were up 35.4 percent over last year to 208,725.
