NASHVILLE - Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today announced the appointments of 165 Tennesseans, including several from Southeast Tennessee, to a variety of state boards and commissions.

Earlier this year, the legislature passed Haslam's recommended reforms to many of the state's boards and commissions, and most of those changes take effect between July and October, according to a news release from the governor's office.

"Tennessee will be well-represented on these boards and commissions, and I look forward to continuing our review to make sure Tennesseans have a government responsive to them," Haslam said in the news release.

Appointment terms are varied due to differing statutory requirements or term limits determined by specific qualifications.

Area residents who were appointed to board or commissions are:

- Board of Examiners in Psychology: Mark Loftis, Cookeville, and Dr. James Milliron, Cleveland

- Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers: Anita Taylor, Chattanooga

- Board of Ground Water Management: Tim Hawn, Pikeville

- Board of Occupational Therapy: Amy Burba, Hixson

- Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners: Karl M. Fillauer, Chattanooga

- Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission: Patrice Hobbs Glass, Chattanooga

- Council on Developmental Disabilities: Richard Davis, Hixson

- Suicide Prevention Network: Timothy Tatum, Chattanooga

- Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission: William Brown, Chattanooga

- Tennessee Historical Commission: Allen Carter, Athens

- Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation: Noble Cody, Cookeville

- Tombigbee Waterway Development Authority: John Bennett, Chattanooga

- Traumatic Brain Injury Advisory Council: Fred Hart, Chattanooga

- TRICOR: Herbert Lackey, McDonald

- Volunteer Tennessee Commission: William Lamb and Rochelle Mayberry of Cleveland
