Smith pastor at New City Fellowship

The Rev. Kevin M. Smith, a native of West Philadelphia, Pa., and most recently the senior pastor of multi-ethnic Pinelands Presbyterian Church in Miami, has been installed as senior pastor of New City Fellowship Church, 2424 E. Third St.

He succeeds founding pastor Randy Nabors, who retired, at the cross-cultural Glenwood church.

Prior to his pastorate in Miami, Smith planted what became Mount Zion Covenant Church in Bowie, Md., a suburb of Washington D.C., and worked part time as a pastoral intern at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. In addition, he has served on the board of Florida Christian School in Miami and the Reformed University Fellowship committee for the state of Florida.

He also has worked as a therapeutic recreation specialist on clinical psychiatric teams in psychiatric units and hospitals in Philadelphia.

Smith attended Penn State University and earned his bachelor's degree from Temple University. He studied at Westminister Theological Seminar through the Center for Urban Theological Studies and earned his master's in theological studies from Chesapeake Theological Seminary.

He and his wife, Sandra, have four daughters, Tesia, Bethany, Chara, and Joanna.
