CHATTANOOGA, TN - A house on Ely Road in Hixson has been declared uninhabitable by city building inspectors after a car ran into the house, causing heavy structural damage.
Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner said a young woman coming off of Hixson Pike ran into the house at 1506 Ely Road around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.
She was still in the car when the first firefighters arrived and appeared to be uninjured as she was helped out of the car.
