Former Arkansas governor and Fox News host Mike Huckabee will campaign for U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann a week from July 19, Fleischmann campaign officials said.
According to a news release, Republicans Huckabee and Fleischmann will appear in Hamilton and Campbell counties on Thursday.
Campaign workers are still sorting out details, but Fleischmann spokesman Jordan Powell said a public, “get-out-the-vote rally” is being planned.
Fleischmann’s chief of staff, Chip Saltsman, managed Huckabee’s 2008 presidential run.
Huckabee endorsed Fleischmann during the 2010 3rd Congressional District race.
Fleischmann’s GOP primary opponents are Ron Bhalla, Scottie Mayfield and Weston Wamp. The Democrats in the race are Mary Headrick and Bill Taylor, and independent Matthew Deniston also is running.
