An entrance and two exit ramps on U.S. 27 North will be closed as part of the widening project on the highway, and the two exit ramps will not open again, officials say.
On Wednesday evening, the Manufacturers Road entrance ramp and the Manning Street and Whitehall Road exit ramps will be closed, according to a news release from the Tennessee Department of Transportation. The ramps on Manning Street and Whitehall Road will never be reopened, the release said.
The Manufacturers Road ramp will be closed until spring 2013 to allow for the building of several retaining walls and portions of the new bridges over the railroad and Manning Street.
Motorists wanting to get on U.S. 27 North from Manufacturers Road will be detoured to Cherokee Boulevard, the release said.
The Manning Street exit ramp from U.S. 27 North will be closed to allow for reconstruction of the railroad bridge, the release said.
The Whitehall Road ramp was targeted for closure already, but it’s being closed earlier than expected after managers of the Pinnacle condominiums asked contractors to shut it down so a new parking garage can be finished, the release said.
