A Meigs County deputy stumbled upon a domestic dispute while answering another call at about 9 p.m. Sunday night, according to Meigs County 911 dispatch.

The deputy was on his way to another call when he heard the dispute in the Georgetown neighborhood, and tried to end the fight.

He became involved in the altercation and called for backup, a dispatcher said. A neighbor, who also called to report the incident, told dispatch there were three people fighting with the officer.

It is unknown at this time how many people were involved in the fight, but dispatch said there were at least three.

Four officers responded from the Meigs County Sheriff's Department and the Decatur Police Department, and the officers were able to end the fight.

Two people were injured and transported to the hospital. The dispatcher said there was no information available on the people's identities or whether anyone was arrested.
