Chattanooga teen faces arson charge after fire at city wellness center

A 19-year-old man faces an arson charge after the city's new Wellness Center was set on fire, said Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner.

Kashmore Marlin was charged with arson after witnesses watched him leave the scene around the same time of the fire, Garner said.

The center, under construction at 602 E. 11th St., was burned early this morning, but there was no structural damage to the building, Garner said. Insulation and other building materials were set on fire, he said.

Chattanooga firefighters had to cut through the security fence to gain access to the building, which sustained $5,000 in damages, he said.
