Good Deed: Transplant recipient has plenty of help

Cooper Stokes-Meadows had a triple transplant this winter and is currently staying at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He is recovering slowly, but we have some people in Chattanooga who our family would like to thank for getting this angel as far as he has come.

Cooper and his mother, Chelsey, have been through a lot since his birth. Cooper was born with a condition known as gastrochisis. While we waited for liver, small intestine and pancreas transplants, Cooper was under the extraordinary care of Dr. Jeremy Screws and the wonderful nurses at Children's Hospital at Erlanger.

We also want to thank Julie Neal, Cooper's home health nurse; Pete Serodino, who flew Cooper and Chelsey to Pittsburgh in the few hours they give you to receive a gift of life like this; Tina Holloway, John Hawkins and the people of Miller Industries; Pam Slaten and all the kids at BCA; the people of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and all of Chelsey's friends.

Chattanooga, you will always have a special place in our hearts! We humbly thank you again for all the prayers and support!
