A 17-year-old male has been rescued by Hamilton County emergency personnel after he fell from a ledge on Walden's Ridge.

Mark Bush, a student at Silverdale Baptist Academy, was landscaping a homeowner's property when he lost his balance and slipped and fell 50 feet and rolled 250 feet down the bluff, according to Chief Jimmy Hillis with Walden's Ridge Emergency Services.

He was not wearing a safety belt.

Emergency crews rappelled down the side of the mountain though heavy debris and placed Bush on a stretcher, said EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell. It took emergency personnel about an hour to bring him back up.

The young man fell shortly around 10:30 a.m. and rescuers talked to him on his cell phone, Maxwell said. Bush has reported injuries to arm and head but is conscious and alert with good vital signs.
