Fresh ObamaCare deceit

If you look up the definition of "bait and switch," you will find a reference to ObamaCare.

OK, you won't really find mention of ObamaCare. But it would be perfectly understandable if you did.

Its supporters used a series of cynical accounting tricks to make it seem as if the health care reform law would reduce, rather than increase, federal budget deficits. That isn't likely to pan out, as noted in a devastating recent study by Charles Blahous, a Medicare trustee, and by countless other observers.

And now, more and more small businesses are discovering that ObamaCare's lure of supposed tax credits for companies that provide medical insurance to their workers was a mirage -- or at least requires such a complicated application process that it isn't worth the aggravation.

Joyce Rosenberg, who writes on small business for The Associated Press, spelled out what a joke the tax credits really are for lots of businesses.

Companies are excluded from the credit if, for instance, their average employee earns more than $50,000 per year.

Businesses that want the tax credit also have to pay a minimum of half the insurance premiums for their workers, making applying for the credit even less appealing.

Businesses with 25 or more full-time workers are barred from receiving the credit. That freezes out lots of small businesses altogether.

And things are dicey even for companies that meet the fewer-than-25-employee rule. Owners of many such businesses employ their relatives, yet the tax break for premiums paid on insurance is denied when the worker is a family member.

Then there is the matter of the application process itself.

"The calculations are mind-numbing," a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania told the AP. Many of his firm's clients found that the accounting fees they had to pay to apply for the tax credit wiped out any benefit they got from it.

Who could dream up such a punishing, off-putting process?

Why, the very people who assured us that ObamaCare as a whole was such a fine deal!

If they can't be trusted to make this relatively small tax credit useful and accessible, what possible reason do we have to believe they have the wisdom to be making far larger decisions about the medical care we receive?

The president and Democrats in Congress sold us a bill of goods on ObamaCare. And far too many of us bought it.

Now, bit by bit, we are seeing the folly of entrusting health care to the same elected officials who have helped drive the national debt up into the $16 trillion range. Only it may be too late to do anything about it.

And if you look up the definition of "plutocracy" you will find the description of our government under a Romney administration.

ALL Socialists schemes are sold with lies. To promise healthcare for all and at the same time promise no increase in costs is an obvious lie.

And to promise economic improvement by proposing continued wasteful militarism, cuts in education and domestic infrastructure, enrichment of the already rich with no concomitant increases in tax revenue, on and on through the Republican roadmap to oblivion; is a dream only one who wears magic underwear could believe.

Wow, we are HOPELESS, utterly HOPELESS. On the right side, according to the Leftists, are the Repubs. who just want to reward the rich with government perks, tax cuts etc. all the while ignoring the poor, the needy which our Constitution says government must...NO the Constituion says nothing about government providing any perks. Then there is the left side according to Righties, who just want to sell out the country and convince us all that if we move in the direction that many countries have long abandoned and some wish they could because Socialism isn't working, we'll be fine. And that we need to help all those poor voters...uh did I say voters, I mean, illegal aliens...did I say illegals? So who will step up and help the federal government to do what it needs to do to get this country on a new and proper course? Right, Left, Middle; I see no one whom anyone will really trust. So here we go again, who will be the least worst to lead our country? We will find out soon enough and see where this OBAMAAFFORDABLETAKECAREOFWHATTHECONSTITUTIONDOESNOTALLOWFOR healthcare leads to. I refuse to hold my breath on that being a right and proper direction. We shall see.

There is no law or even an argument against anyone practicing their religion in public. That is just what you Conservative Christians seem to derive from the claim that prayer shouldn't be mandated by government.

Actually, the real religion is that of the Anti_Obamite. Like all too many, it is based on false promises, cynical lies and a hypocritical condemnation of others that justifies a self-delusion. See for example the bald-faced lies in this editorial, as none if this was unknown when the law was passed. It was. You didn't care. Instead, you waxed long and hard about non-existent death panels. But hey, do you know how much effort goes into health insurance paperwork now? Ask some HR departments yourself. Of course, all of that could be eliminated with single-payer, but that would send you into even worse hysterics as you delude yourself further about it.

Anyway, Livn4life, you won't name any of those countries, will you? Others want them to abandon their standards and become beholden not to their citizens but the corporate oligarchs who put those countries in a spot. Greek,Spain, France, the citizens there realize where the real danger is. Trusting liars like you are. You honestly think they're looking out for you? No, they just exploit your trust by giving you fake excuses as they consolidate their power. Let's take your example. Protecting the voter rolls? From who? Do you know who was called an illegal voter? A 91 year old WWII veteran. There is a reason all of Florida's supervisors of elections have rejected Rick Scott's transparent attempt at voter suppression. We know your concern about vote integrity is feigned.

Same as these concerns about healthcare. This plan is what Mitt Romney's would be if Obama hadn't implemented it. In fact it shares a vast majority of features and language with his state plan, which was a model for the whole nation.

And same elected officials? Could you lie any more than that? If you were honest about condeming the whole, it would be one thing, but I know the excuses you made from Reagan and the Bush's. Or you just blamed the Democrats in Congress. Oh wait, who is bad about claiming others cast too much blame? You are.

Thanks for showing your hypocrisy again.
