Dr. Roger Brown, chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for seven years, has announced he will retire.

Brown said in a release he plans to continue as chancellor until his successor can be sworn in or until March 31, 2013.

Brown is the 15th head of UTC and has seen the university's enrollment go up by more than 19 percent in six years. Last fall the local state university saw enrollment reach 11,438 students.
