The city's latest shooting victim remained in critical condition Friday after a home invasion this week.

Chattanooga police still are searching for suspects who shot 39-year-old Corey Taylor at 3004 Pope Drive early Thursday afternoon.

Police say the shooting was not random and they believe Taylor was targeted specifically.

After he was shot, Taylor reportedly was seen carrying a rifle as he chased at least one burglar down the street. He then dropped the rifle on the side of the street.

A short time later, police said, a 17-year-old boy went to Memorial Hospital to be treated for a couple of gunshot wounds.

Police have not confirmed whether the shootings were related.

Taylor's shooting brings this year's total to 38 shootings so far -- the same number as at this time last year.

Court records show that, since 1997, Taylor has been arrested on seven drug charges, most of which were dismissed.

He was convicted of possession of cocaine and marijuana stemming from an arrest last year, records show. Last month, he received a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days at the county workhouse from Hamilton County General Sessions Court Judge David Bales.

Anyone with any information on Taylor's shooting is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.
