1 in custody, 1 sought in Saturday shooting on Market Street

One person is in jail and another is being sought in a Saturday night shooting that wounded a teenager, Chattanooga police said this afternoon.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 2600 Market Street. The victim was shot in the shoulder but his injuries were not believed life-threatening, police said.

Police spokesman Sgt. Wayne Jefferson said a teenager has been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and unlawful use of a firearm.

He identified a second suspect as Kenneth Trammell, a black man, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 150 pounds, with dreadlocks. Trammell is wanted on the same charges, Jefferson said in a news release.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525 or Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333.
