Gordon Hulgan: Jim Phifer Award

Jim Phifer Award

Outstanding Achievement in golf

Gordon Hulgan

McCallie School, Sophomore

Why he won

His 3-under-par 69 on the first day of the Division II-AA state tournament was good enough for medalist honors at Willowbrook Golf Course and led the Blue Tornado to the state championship. Prior to that, he played through a broken bone in his foot to shoot a 3-over-par 75 as McCallie won the region tournament.

“It means a lot. Coming into the year I didn’t think I would be here tonight accepting this award. There are a lot of really good players in this area, and that makes winning the award even more special.”
