Sandy Sandlin Award

For an Unselfish Sportsman

Ryan Seaberg

Baylor School, Senior

Why he won

Diagnosed with diabetes when he was only 2 years old, the Baylor senior began working with his grandfather, also a diabetic, to raise money for a cure. Over the last 10 years he has helped raise more than $120,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and he also overcame complications from the disease to become a starting defensive lineman for Baylor's football team.

""Ever since I was little I've met other kids with diabetes. I've always been inspired to do things, and I know you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. Everyone is an inspiration to me. "
