Vonn Bell: E.B. “Red” Etter Award

E.B. “Red” Etter Award

Outstanding Achievement in Football

Vonn Bell

Ridgeland High School, Junior

Why he won

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound free safety was the main piece for a Ridgeland team that, despite nine new defensive starters, overcame a slow start to earn a Georgia Class AAA playoff spot and reach the second round. A two-way starter, he totaled 178 tackles (119 solo stops), picked off five passes, caused three fumbles and recovered five, returning three for touchdowns. Offensively he had 31 receptions for 487 yards and six touchdowns. He is rated as a four-star prospect by several recruiting services and has scholarship offers from 27 schools, including all but two Southeastern Conference programs.

“It means a lot to me, my coaching staff and family, and it will make me work even harder to win it again next year. ... All the hard work has paid off. I plan to just keep believing and not let up. ”
