Generals shut out Lookouts

Chattanooga relievers Geison Aguasviva and Luis Vazquez combined to allow five runs in the seventh inning as Jackson blew open the series opener for an 8-0 win over the Lookouts.

The Lookouts (30-34) trailed 1-0 when Aguasviva replaced starter Allen Webster and allowed two singles and a walk to load the bases while only recording one out. Vazquez entered and promptly walked Leury Bonilla to make it 2-0 and then gave up two-run doubles to Joseph Dunigan and Chih-Hsien Chiang.

Game two of a five-game series in Jackson is tonight at 8:05 Eastern.

Ethan Martin (6-2, 3.38) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Steve Garrison (3-3, 4.93) scheduled for the Generals.

Lookouts officials announced Wednesday that Scotty McCreery, who edged out Rossville's Lauren Alaina last year to win the 10th season of American Idol, will throw out the first pitch June 22 at AT&T Field.
