The members of Queen B & The Well Strung Band came together through connections from another band. That first group lasted one gig, but out of that, The Well Strung Band was formed.

This July, they will celebrate their first anniversary. But first, Riverbend.

The Chattanooga-based quartet boasts a range of musical backgrounds and tastes, from country to rock, from blues to R&B, and a little bit of pop.

They try to do a little bit for everyone, said lead vocalist Christi Baggett, mixing up genres, eras and more. "We try to do things that make you think. We try to take you on a musical journey."

Baggett began her musical journey singing gospel music, performing with the Oral Roberts television singers.

"I've been playing with (music) a long time," she said in phone interview. "I'm an entertainer at heart. I want to grab the audience's attention, and I want everyone to have a great time."

The Oklahoma native moved to Chattanooga 12 years ago after time spent living in Nashville, working as a studio singer.

The Well Strung Band's influences include Mother's Finest Funk Band, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi.

"I had never heard of her, and (bandmate) Josh Lewis said 'you have to hear this girl,' and I fell in love," Baggett said.

The musicians bring the sounds of their idols to the stage, but, Baggett said, audiences shouldn't expect a typical cover band.

"Yes, we're a cover band, but we like to do some of the covers that nobody else dares to do."

Like covering Adele. "Nobody really wants to touch Adele."

One artist she hasn't ventured to cover is Celine Dion.

"I'm not that brave," she said.
