Two dozen charged for traffic or criminal violations over weekend

Two dozen people were charged with criminal or traffic violations during a highway sweep in Calhoun, Ga., over the weekend.

Calhoun police participated with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety Road Check at several places in the county from 11:45 p.m. Saturday till 2 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release.

During that time, three people were arrested for driving under the influence, three for possession of methamphetamine, three for possession of marijuana and others for traffic violations, the release said.

Officers had checkpoints at the southbound Interstate 75 exits at Highway 156 and Highway 53.
