About 500 sheriffs are in Nashville for the 2012 National Sheriffs Association conference through Wednesday.
The Davidson County Sheriff's Office is the event's host for the second time in less than 10 years. Davidson Sheriff Daron Hall said an advantage of hosting is having access to dozens of workshops at no charge.
Seminars at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center include prison assaults, jail risk management and safety, terrorism and mental health in jails.
