All 20 sports at Georgia were well above the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate cutoff score, with 10 recording their best scores in the seven years since the APR was instituted.
Georgia had the top scores among Southeastern Conference schools in four sports -- men's golf (a perfect 1,000), women's gymnastics (1,000), women's swimming (998) and men's indoor tack and field (996). The football team's score of 970 tied for third in the SEC and was just eight points off Vanderbilt's league-leading 978.
"Our student-athletes are to be congratulated for their effort and hard work in generating these APR scores," athletic director Greg McGarity said. "It's an outstanding example of teamwork among our student-athletes, coaches and Ted White's staff at the Rankin Smith Center. We are very proud of this combined effort of excellence in academics, and we look forward to continued improvement in the future."
Georgia had 11 of its sports rank among the top five in the SEC.
