Franklin County charged Michigan man with violation of sex offender rules

Franklin County authorities on Thursday charged a Saranac, Mich., man on two felony warrants from his home state and a new charge in Tennessee, according to a news release.

Christopher John Birman was taken into custody in Huntland, Tenn., at a home on Alabama Street, according to Franklin County Sgt. Chris Guess' release.

Guess states that investigators with the sheriff's office and the 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force discovered Birman had two felony warrants issued for him from Michigan and that he also failed to report in Tennessee as a sex offender.

Birman is now being held on bond at the Franklin County Jail and faces a date in General Sessions Court July 16.
