PEARL, Miss. -- Pedro Baez drove in four runs and pitcher Allen Webster allowed just one run in seven innings as Chattanooga defeated the Mississippi Braves 4-1 in their Southern League baseball series opener Tuesday night.
The Lookouts (3-3) struck for three runs in the second inning when a one-out walk by J.T. Wise was followed by a Luis Nunez double to left field and a three-run home run to left by Baez. Wise doubled to right-center in the third inning, advanced to third on a Nunez single to left and scored on a Baez groundout.
Webster improved to 3-7 and lowered his earned run average to 4.39.
Game two of the five-game series is tonight at 8 EDT. Zach Lee, the No. 1 prospect in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization according to Baseball America, is scheduled to make his Double-A pitching debut for the Lookouts, with Gary Moran (2-6, 3.16) listed for the Braves.
