Bradley County fire crew fights blaze, EMT helps fire crews fight dehydration

Bradley County paramedics are on scene of a fire to help firefighters avoid heat exhaustion.

At about 6:10 p.m., crews responded to a possible structure fire at Smokey Mountain Apartments on U.S. Highway 64, according to Bradley County EMS spokesman Stan Clark. At least four apartments were totally involved in the fire, he said.

Paramedics and EMT’s set up a triage and treatment area for the firefighters, Clark said.

“Some get overheated,” he said. “We’ve had two or three we’ve started an I-V on for dehydration, and one was removed from the scene for smoke inhalation.”

Crews were still on the scene at about 8:30 p.m., and there is no word on what started the fire, Clark said.
