Salvation Army responding to tornadoes in Alabama, Tennessee

Salvation Army officials said today that North Alabama volunteers and Tennessee staff are preparing to respond to tornado touchdowns in Limestone and Madison counties in Alabama and Cowan, Tenn., east of Winchester.

Tornado touchdowns in North Alabama damaged homes and businesses near Athens and Huntsville.

Tennessee Valley Authority officials said Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant is running and safe.
