Friday, March 9, 2012

The Soddy-Daisy City Commission is now looking for an interim judge to fill the post vacated by now-General Sessions Judge David Norton earlier this week.

The Hamilton County Election Commission is also preparing to hold a special election in the Aug. 2 general election to fill the remaining two years of Norton's term.

Applications for the interim Soddy-Daisy appointment are available from city recorder Burt Johnson or city attorney Sam Elliott. Those are due to Soddy-Daisy City Hall by noon on March 29.

The qualifying deadline for the Aug. 2 to run in the general election is April 5 at noon. Petitions are available at the Hamilton County Election Commission.

Norton resigned Wednesday after being sworn in as interim replacement for late General Sessions Judge Bob Moon. Norton is also running in the August general election to fill the remainder of Moon's term.

Johnson's email address is Burt.Johnson@soddy-daisy.org and Elliott's is selliott@gearhiserpeters.com.
