Howard Tigers to play Liberty in first round of TSSAA State Basketball Championships

For Howard to continue their season into the Class AA state semifinals, they are going to have to “slay the dragon,” so to speak.

The 21-9 Hustlin’ Tigers will play Liberty at 12:45 EST in the first round of the TSSAA State Basketball Championships, which start Wednesday at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro. The Crusaders (28-6) have ended Howard’s season in the past two state tournaments.

Ooltewah, making their first state appearance in 32 years and first ever in Class AAA, drew Memphis Central on Wednesday at 7:45 EST, while Grace Academy (19-10) will face Friendship Christian.
