Actor Harrison Ford will be part of a movie to be shot in Chattanooga, city officials said today.
Missy Crutchfield, administrator for the city’s Department of Education, Arts and Culture, confirmed today during a City Council meeting that Ford — who has starred as Han Solo in the “Star Wars” movies and as Indiana Jones in four films — will be in Chattanooga for the filming of a movie about baseball great Jackie Robinson, the first black man in the major leagues.
“This will be the biggest movie project to hit Chattanooga,” she said.
The council will vote tonight to spend $25,000 on renovating Engel Stadium, a key location in the film.
Legendary Pictures, which is producing the film, will also spend an unconfirmed amount of money to renovate the stadium.
