A suspect is in custody after a woman was stabbed in Chattanooga on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
At about 5:20 p.m., Chattanooga Police Department responded to a stabbing in the lobby of Whiteside’s Faith Manor, 735 E. 10th St. downtown.
The female victim was taken to Erlanger after being stabbed on the right side of her head and neck, Sgt. Jeff Rearden said. The injuries “do not appear to be life-threatening, but were substantial,” he said.
The suspect was caught shortly after. He is facing aggravated assault and attempted murder charges, Rearden said. The unidentified suspect and the victim knew each other, he said.
