Corey Davis blast lifts Lee University

Corey Davis hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday to give Lee University a 6-5 baseball win over Freed-Hardeman at Olympic Field in Cleveland.

Pinch-hitter Taylor Comford was hit by a pitch with one out in the ninth, and Blake Barber singled to right field. Two wild pitches sandwiching a strikeout had runners on third and second base for Davis, who hit his seventh homer of the season over the right-field fence on a 3-2 count.

Roberto Reyes was 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs and Brady Renner had two hits and an RBI for Lee (30-4-1). Jesse Hykes was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Lions (21-11).

At Cleveland, Ga., Bryan (23-10) beat Truett-McConnell 4-1 in 10 innings and lost 12-2.

Covenant 10, Point 1: At Covenant, David Lockwood batted in three runs and Chris Rollins, Will Clelland and K.C. Simons each had two hits and an RBI for the host Scots (9-8). Kurt Wiles stole two bases and scored three runs. Keith Rice and three relievers held Point (18-12) to five hits.

Berry 6, Tennessee Temple 2: At AT&T Field, the Vikings broke a 2-2 tie with three unearned runs in the eighth inning, dropping the Crusaders to 8-20-1. Will Heard hit a homer and a sacrifice fly for Berry (11-11). Chris Altman was 3-for-5 and Taylor Wilson was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Temple, and pitcher Brandon Davis allowed only two hits in the first six innings and gave up six with three earned runs in a complete game.

Cleveland State 16-18, Tennessee Wesleyan JV 3-4: At Athens, the visiting Cougars improved to 17-10 as DeAndre Allen drove in five runs and Michael Lyons went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the first game and Devin Fish went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Chase Edwards and Randall Coley added three RBIs each in game two.

Edwards, Grant Zawadzki and Colby Harmon homered in the second five-inning game, and Zawadzki stole three bases in the opener. Ethan Davis and Zack Taylor were the winning pitchers. Zack Helms had a two-run double for TWC.

Former Cleveland State player Cody Ferrell was 3-for-5 and had the winning two-run single capping a seven-run ninth inning as Cumberland University rallied to beat visiting Campbellsville 9-8. He also pitched the first five innings, giving up three earned runs.
