Kyowa to open Portland plant
Kyowa America Corp., will open a $12 million facility in Portland, Tenn., creating 160 jobs. The Japanese maker of automotive plastic injection molding said Friday it expects to be operational by late summer.
Kyowa specializes in manufacturing equipment for high-gloss molded finish, gas-assisted molding, in-mold decoration and custom painting and printing. Founded in 1973 by Kyowa Electric & Chemical Co. Ltd., the U.S. subsidiary said it chose Portland north of Nashville because of its proximity to its customer base of Southeastern car plants.
Armstrong adds 95 more jobs
Armstrong World Industries Inc. announced Friday it will add 95 jobs to its Jackson, Tenn., flooring facility with the addition of a third production shift targeted for completion by the end of May. Armstrong is a global leader in the design and manufacture of floors, ceilings and cabinets and operates 32 plants in eight countries.
In 2011, Armstrong’s consolidated net sales totaled about $2.9 billion. Based in Lancaster, Pa., Armstrong has about 9,100 employees worldwide. The company markets products under the names Armstrong, Bruce and Robbins.
