Three local public school teachers will be honored later this week as 2012 Hamilton County Teachers of the Year.
The Hamilton County Department of Education announced today that honorees include Sherry Johnston of Nolan Elementary, Joan Roueche of Hunter Middle and Leah Keith-Houle of Red Bank High. All three were also selected as regional teachers of the year and have advanced to state competition.
The honorees will be treated to a limousine ride to a Friday luncheon in their honor at the Chattanoogan hotel.
Kevin rejoined the Times Free Press in August 2011 as the Southeast Tennessee K-12 education reporter. He worked as an intern in 2009, covering the communities of Signal Mountain, Red Bank, Collegedale and Lookout Mountain, Tenn. A native Kansan, Kevin graduated with bachelor's degrees in journalism and sociology from the University of Kansas.
