Dalton intersection reopens after gas leak downtown

Update: The intersection has been reopened and the gas leak has stopped.

In Dalton, the intersection of Thornton Avenue and Waugh Street downtown is closed because of a gas leak from a building that is being torn down.

Dalton Utilities is on the scene and hopes to fix the problem soon, says Bruce Frazier, spokesman for the Dalton Police Department.

Officers are directing traffic around the neighboring intersections, he said.
