Easter events under way in the Chattanooga area

Visits with the Easter Bunny aren't the only thing hoppening around town as Easter approaches. Mr. Bunny, of course, poses for photos daily at Hamilton Place and Northgate Mall in Chattanooga, Bradley Square Mall in Cleveland, Tenn., and Walnut Square Mall in Dalton, Ga.   • Today and Saturday: New Haven Baptist Church, 1058 Graysville Road in East Brainerd, has a walk-through drama, "Resurrection Morn," open 6:30 to 10 p.m., with tours every 20 minutes. Admission is free. Concessions will be available. 855-4910.

  • Saturday: The Hamilton Place Chick-fil-A will have its Easter Extravaganza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Center Court stage. Activities include storytelling, visits with the Chick-fil-A cow and milk shake samples. 894-3181.

  • Sunday: Brittsville Baptist Church, 2650 Brittsville Road, will have a life of Christ presentation at 6 p.m. 472-5177.

  • Thursday: Families are invited to the Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department's third annual Easter egg hunt at Warner Park at 6 p.m. The free event includes 25,000 eggs, face painting, costume contest and photos with the Easter Bunny. The hunt is open to children up to 12 years old, with prizes awarded in all age groups. Concessions will be available. 643-6096.

• April 7: Hug-a-Bunny Day at Chattanooga Zoo, 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave., will include real bunnies to pet, photos with the Easter Bunny and eggs to collect at various educational and craft stations. The zoo is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with activities scheduled 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Regular admission applies: $8.95 adults, $6.95 seniors 65-74, $5.95 kids 3-12. 697-1322.

  • April 7: Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road, will have an egg hunt, with door prizes and a free lunch, from 10 a.m. to noon.

  • April 7-8: The Southern Belle riverboat offers three options Easter weekend. Reserve by phone at 800-766-2784 or visit www.ChattanoogaRiverboat.com.

-- The Easter Bunny Cruise for kids includes a pancake breakfast, coloring sheets and a magic show. The 90-minute trip sets sail at 9:30 a.m. April 7. Cost is $14 adults, $9 children 3-12.

-- Easter Lunch on the River is a two-hour cruise to feast on a buffet starting at 1 p.m. April 8. An appearance by the Easter Bunny and live musical entertainment are included. Tickets are $27.50 adults, $15.50 children 3-12.

-- Easter on Pier 2 at the Landing begins dockside with a buffet at 2 p.m., musical entertainment from 2 to 4 p.m. and a cruise aboard the riverboat from 4 to 5 p.m. April 8. Cost is $26.50 adults, $15.50 children 3-12.

April 8: Stuart Heights Baptist Church will hold its annual Easter at Coolidge service in Coolidge Park downtown. More than 100,000 eggs will be hidden for a children's egg hunt at 9 a.m., followed by the worship service at 10 a.m. Families should bring a basket for the egg hunt, blanket or chairs for the service and a picnic lunch to enjoy afterward. 877-2643 or 876-1888.

April 8: Hamilton Life Church will hold its Easter in the Park worship service at 10 a.m. at Camp Jordan. An egg hunt with 14,000 eggs will follow. Families should bring lawn chairs and blankets. 834-1681.
