Fort Oglethorpe police seek purse theft suspect

The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department and Crime Stoppers are seeking information in a theft inside the Fort Oglethorpe Walmart last month.

On Feb. 23, a woman picked up an elderly woman's purse after she dropped it, then kept it without making an attempt to locate the owner, Chattanooga police spokesman Officer Nathan Hartwig said.

The suspect is white and last was seen wearing a tie-dyed shirt with a large red heart on the front. She was seen leaving the scene in a silver four-door car.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333. Calls are confidential and could lead to a reward of up to $1,000.
