CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Cleveland Board of Education went on record today in support of the $32 wheel tax referendum that will be on the Bradley County August ballot.

The Bradley County Commission approved a resolution calling for the vote, with proceeds going towards capital projects debt for both the city and county school systems.

Both school systems have said they have building needs that must be met soon due to growth now and predicted in the next few years.

The City School Board voted unanimously to support the wheel tax campaign.

"We do believe this is the best and brightest way to get to our goals," City Schools Director Martin Ringstaff said.

"This is a fair tax and the county commissioners have done their due diligence," said board member Dawn Robinson.

"This is a time of make or break for city and county schools," board member Steve Morgan said.
