Liquor store clerk Harold Edward Williams, 76, was back on the job Tuesday May 1, 2012, a day after being arrested for shooting at a fleeing shoplifter outside Adobe Package Store, 5036 N. Broadway, in North Knoxville. Williams faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

North Knoxville liquor store clerk Harold Edward Williams, though, contends he only wanted to scare a fleeing shoplifter when he fired a single .38-caliber round above the man's head Monday.
"If we don't scare people to keep them from robbing us, they'll be here as soon as we open the door," said the 76-year-old Williams.
