A McMinnville, Tenn., man pleaded guilty to federal charges of attempted enticement of a minor for illegal sexual activity in connection with a February online incident involving an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to a news release from the U.S. district attorney’s office.
David Eli Cramer, 50, entered the plea May 1 at the federal court in Greeneville, Tenn., the release states. Cramer is scheduled for a sentencing hearing Nov. 19 at 1:30 p.m.
Authorities say Cramer sought sex with a minor and met an undercover Morristown, Tenn., police officer online posing as a 14-year-old girl who lived in Morristown. He scheduled their first meeting on Feb. 14 in Morristown and was arrested that day. He has remained in federal custody since his February arrest.
Cramer faces a sentence of 10 years to a maximum of life in prison with a maximum fine of $500,000, according to officials.
“We take the sexual exploitation of children very seriously,” U.S. Attorney Bill Killian said. “Thanks to the combined efforts of the various local and federal law enforcement agencies, we were able to achieve this conviction.”
